Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden Scheduled to Play the Shoreline Amphitheatre

On Sunday, August 24, 2014, the band that is credited with bringing industrial music to the masses, Nine Inch Nails, will take the stage at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. As an added bonus, all those in attendance will also be treated to the music of Soundgarden, a band instrumental in the development of the grunge style of alternative rock in the early 1990’s. Both bands have been around for more than 25 years and have a loyal fan base. Their distinct ability to connect with their fans always creates an exciting and energetic atmosphere when they are on tour.

Nine Inch Nails

Nine Inch Nails has nothing to do with carpentry and the name was not chosen as a reference to the Crucifixion of Christ. Trent Reznor, the only official member of the band, chose the name simply because he liked the way it sounded and it was easy to abbreviate (NIN). Founded in 1988 in Cleveland, Trent Reznoris the only permanent member. When Nine Inch Nails tours, performs or records music, band members are recruited under the supervision of Rezner.

Nine Inch Nails is quite unlike any of the other industrial bands in that Rezner makes the music much more accessible to the public by writing melodic and structured lyrics that keep the sound from getting too robotic in nature. He appeals to fans who appreciate alternative music, heavy metal, and a twist of pop-style lyrics. His shows are filled with visual effects that add to the experience. Rezner and Nine Inch Nails won two Grammy Awards. In 1992, NIN won Best Metal Performance for Wish and received the same award in 1995 for Happiness in Slavery.

Soundgarden is one of the seminal rock bands that, along with Nirvana and Pearl Jam, introduced and popularized the grunge sound in the early 90’s. The Seattle-based band had its biggest success in 1994 with the album Superunknown, which quickly went to number one on the Billboard charts. That album also produced the Grammy Award-winning singles, Black Hole Sun and Spoonman. Soundgarden has sold well over 22 million records worldwide and more than 10 million in the United States.

The Shoreline Amphitheatre always has a full calendar of great performers. Fans of country, rock and all genres of music can choose their favorites. A few of the performers scheduled to take the stage in the next several months include Dierks Bently, the Doobie Brothers, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and Drake & Lil Wayne. From our hotel, the Camino Inn and Suites is only about a 7 minute drive to the Shoreline Amphitheatre.
